Betting on the Super Bowl

With Super Bowl 50 getting closer and closer we thought we’d take a little look at the betting for the big one but don’t worry, we’ll be back to USA casinos and slots next week!
The Super Bowl itself takes place on February 7 at the Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California. After months of grueling battles we’re down to just four teams, with the NFC Championship game set to be contested by the Arizona Cardinals and the Carolina Panthers and the AFC game being a battle between the New England Patriots and the Denver Broncos.
The Super Bowl betting is incredibly close right now, with the sportsbooks struggling to separate the four sides. It’s the Panthers who are marginal favorites to go all the way though, currently priced at +220 but as short as +187 at some books, whilst the Pats are next at a very similar price of +225. Illustrating just how tight the battle for Super Bowl 50 is expected to be, the Broncos and Cardinals are both available at between +320 and +400 and it’s obvious that any one of the four remaining sides could be crowned champions in San Francisco in just a few weeks’ time.
The fact that the Divisional Playoffs were also very closely fought, with Arizona needing OT to get past Green Bay and all three of the other games being won by exactly seven points, shows what an interesting season we have had and it would take a brave man to make any cast iron predictions about the Championship games (which both take place on January 24).
The Panthers had by far the strongest record in regular season, going 15-1, only losing to the Falcons in Week 16. That was a major surprise but the fact that the Panthers shook that off to overcome the Seahawks in the Divisional Playoffs speaks volumes and on balance we feel that Carolina are the side to be with as they look to secure a first ever Super Bowl. They have been improving very steadily over the past few seasons and their ability to dig in when it really matters is what impresses us most.
